Gina Murillo

Gina’s keen interest in the EATS concept is driven by her real-life experience as a one-time stay-at-home (and subsequently single) mom who faced and met the challenges of feeding a family of four healthfully on a tight food budget of less than $200 per month (at the time, less than the allowance for food stamps). She is familiar with family struggles that living on food-stamp budgets encounter while trying to feed their families healthfully and affordably. Gina has over twenty years of experience in the real estate industry in finance, development, and sales.

She is currently an attorney with Freeborn & Peters. After spending almost 10 years with the second-largest owner and developer of shopping malls in the U.S., she has worked on numerous large, complex, commercial real estate transactions over the past fifteen years with a strong focus on retail properties.

She also has experience in business development and marketing in both the for-profit and non-profit start-up arenas. From 1995 to 2000, Gina spearheaded fundraising and event-planning efforts and wrote a newsletter for a local non-profit agency during which time its membership rose by 25%. She also helped that organization attain status as a recognized 501(c)(3) entity. In 2001, she helped start and run a mortgage brokerage service, including developing and implementing its marketing plan, resulting in $2.7 million in closed loans in the first six months. In 2004, she conceptualized and developed the inaugural newsletter for a mid-sized (80+ attorney) law firm as part of its initial marketing effort to solidify its brand as the “go-to” firm for small to mid-sized companies in the Chicago legal market.
